PUCARA CULTURE


This culture represents the southernmost of training first responders, which shows the oldest cultures in the area (proto Tiawanako) submerged remnants of ancient floods (hardened mud).

Its headquarters was located northwest of Lake Titicaca, between Ayaviri and Azangaro in the district of Pucara, Lampa Province in the Puno region. The main area of domain, was the plateau of Collao, around the 3,700 meters.

Its area of influence extended 500 kilometers west of the lake and several miles along the east side. Culture was another buffer or "bridge" between Chavin and Tiahuanaco.

The basis of its economy, was the breeding of llamas, vicuna, llama, alpaca and guanaco.
